Hotjar, the product experience insights company, wanted to increase adoption of a new feature but wasn’t sure whether a Tooltip or Hotspot would work best. Using Appcues, Hotjar ran an A/B test with the same content across both in-app callout styles to compare which subtle prompt would drive more feature usage.
Appcues helped Hotjar easily run the experiment and split the audience evenly, and the Hotspot came out ahead. It increased conversion to use the “relevance selector” feature from 6.5% to 8.16%, a 26% uplift, and also drove a 99% increase in users highlighting/saving recordings.
