How Amplitude bypassed engineering bottlenecks by using Appcues to educate users

Amplitude, a fast-growing behavioral analytics platform, needed a better way to educate users and drive adoption without pulling scarce engineering resources away from core product work. Alicia Shiu, Product Marketing Manager, faced onboarding challenges—new users need time and data to see value—and the team also had to prepare users for a major Amplitude 2.0 relaunch and capture in-product feedback like NPS.

Using Appcues, Alicia built self-service demo walkthroughs, teaser campaigns, modal announcements, in-product tours and a multi-step NPS survey—all without engineering time. The demo-tour combo became the main homepage CTA and generated strong leads (18% of demo visitors contacted sales), while Appcues’ targeted modals, hotspots and rollback option smoothed the 2.0 rollout and made ongoing user education and feedback collection faster and easier.
