A Aplos Case Study
Rescue Pink, founded by Sherry Naron, is a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing baby girls in India and addressing the root causes of female infanticide, child marriage, dowry-driven gender bias, and the resulting rise in trafficking and violence. The organization confronted deep cultural norms and legal enforcement gaps, plus practical hurdles like women’s lack of rights and rural banks not prepared to serve large numbers of women entrepreneurs.
Rescue Pink responds by directly rescuing vulnerable infants and building self-sustaining programs that empower women—working with local banks, supporting small businesses, and prioritizing sustainability over dependence. The approach has saved lives, given girls and their families pathways to economic independence, and created a scalable model that enables the organization to help more children and communities over time.
