Postman uses APIMatic’s API Transformer as part of its Postman Pro platform to help manage Postman Collections and support multiple API description formats. The company wanted an open ecosystem that could fit different user workflows and integrate with repository hosting services such as GitHub for backup and synchronization.

APIMatic’s API Transformer converts API descriptions to and from the stable versions of the Postman Collection Format, with plans to add deeper integration for storing collections in formats such as Swagger, API Blueprint, and RAML. Postman said the tool saves “tens of thousands of dollars” in development and upkeep costs, while also helping the team focus on other parts of the product and keep pace with changes in API description formats.
