ICICI Prudential Life Insurance needed to speed up its underwriting and approval workflows as customer expectations and mobile usage in India increased. To address this, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance turned to Apigee-powered document processing within Google Cloud’s Recognic solution, which uses Vision API for OCR and validation.

Apigee, alongside Google Cloud and Searce, helped implement Recognic to automate document reading, checking, and indexing. The result was a cut in document processing time from 10 minutes to 10 seconds, instant document approval checks, and a 30% increase in applications processed in the same timeframe without additional resources. ICICI Prudential Life Insurance also reported processing 100,000 documents in 20 minutes with automated machine learning.
