RAD-AID International, a global health nonprofit focused on expanding radiology access in underserved regions, faced major challenges deploying and supporting radiology systems at partner hospitals, including limited IT staff, inconsistent internet, and the high cost of maintaining on-premises server rooms. To address these issues, RAD-AID worked with Apigee to support a modern radiology and health IT approach, using a cloud-enabled platform for hospitals that needed reliable image storage and access.

Apigee helped enable a hybrid solution that combined on-site servers with cloud data support, allowing hospitals to store more than 6,000 radiology studies per deployment while reducing installation and maintenance costs over 3+ years. The approach also improved workflow reliability, supported compliance with local regulations, and created a roadmap for future AI-powered radiology insights.
