Rush University Medical Center Transforming healthcare experiences

Rush University Medical Center wanted to improve the patient and caregiver experience by extending care beyond the hospital through digital tools. To support this “care where you are” strategy, it turned to Apigee and the Apigee API management platform to power its MyRush app, which connects patients, providers, and health information.

Apigee helped Rush build API-based microservices and secure access controls for the app, including OAuth, validation policies, and traffic management. The MyRush app now gives users on-demand access to medical records, test results, prescriptions, appointments, symptom checking, and more; in just 8 months after launch, it reached 20K API calls per month, used 250 analytics variables, and freed IT to spend more time on care-focused app delivery.
