Macquarie Group, the Banking and Financial Services arm of Macquarie Bank in Australia, wanted to launch a modern digital banking experience that was secure, open, and flexible enough to support personalized services and future innovation. Working with Apigee and its API Management Platform, Macquarie set out to transform its technology architecture and give customers and developers better ways to manage data and interact with banking services.

Apigee helped Macquarie build an API-first, cloud-ready platform with a developer portal, Macquarie devXchange, plus sandbox access and simplified service connections for internal and external developers. The results included controlled access to business services, more partner and developer innovation, provisioning times cut from months to minutes, and the ability to serve more than 1 million Australian clients and handle 1 billion API requests annually through Apigee-powered digital touchpoints.
