Signify, the world leader in lighting, wanted to revolutionize home lighting with its Philips Hue smart system but needed a powerful and scalable cloud platform to handle the secure back-end operations. They chose Google Cloud and its suite of products, including App Engine and Kubernetes Engine, to build a reliable infrastructure that would free their engineers from managing servers and allow them to focus on product innovation.

By implementing Google Cloud's solutions, Signify built a back end that processes 200 million daily transactions, including 25 million remote commands. The vendor's platform allowed Signify to operate at ten times the scale of similar projects with only one-tenth of the workforce, dramatically cutting costs and resources while enabling integration with other smart home platforms like Nest.
