How Kiwi.com built a travel platform with APIs

Kiwi.com, a Czech Republic-based travel platform, needed a way to replace slow, manual partner onboarding and API change processes as it built its Tequila B2B booking platform. Using Apigee API management, Kiwi.com aimed to give partners secure access to travel content and services through APIs while keeping internal systems and partner interactions manageable.

Apigee helped Kiwi.com automate onboarding, developer registration, reporting, and API access, while using API proxies to decouple front-end APIs from backend services. The result was a faster, more secure launch under a tight 10-week deadline, with 20 proxies in place, new features rolling out every few weeks, and streamlined operations for finance and customer support. Kiwi.com also plans to use Apigee’s monetization capabilities to create new revenue streams from its APIs.
