Autodesk, a leading design software company in the United States, needed to move beyond desktop tools and build a cloud-based ecosystem that could share engineering and design data with customers and partners. To support new digital offerings and revenue streams, Autodesk chose the Apigee API Platform to manage APIs, expose design capabilities, and handle unpredictable traffic at scale.

Using Apigee, Autodesk launched the Autodesk Forge cloud platform and secured both internal and external APIs with flexible governance, security, and scalability. The result was rapid growth in adoption and ecosystem reach, including more than 33 billion API calls through the Apigee platform in 2017, over three times the prior year, while enabling broader access to design data for collaboration and new markets.
