Bank BRI Accelerating Financial Inclusion with Apigee

Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Bank BRI), one of Indonesia’s largest banks, needed to speed up its digital transformation to expand financial inclusion and serve millions of unbanked and underbanked customers. The bank also had to meet government requirements for on-premises data storage while modernizing payments, lending, and partner integrations, and it chose Apigee as its API management platform.

Apigee helped Bank Rakyat Indonesia build and manage API-based apps, connect 320,000 branchless agents, digitize microlending workflows, and expose services for partners and startups. With Apigee, Bank BRI installed 15 nodes to support about 100,000 transactions per minute, increased agility by eliminating manual integrations, and cut partner onboarding from up to four months to just two days.
