Adobe, a provider of solutions for broadcast media companies, faced the challenge of managing the authentication and authorization for its TV Everywhere service across a rapidly proliferating number of devices and platforms. The engineering effort to build and maintain separate native clients for each new device was unsustainable and delayed time to market for its customers. To address this, they turned to the vendor Apigee.
By implementing the Apigee Edge platform, Adobe created a mediation layer that managed unique device requirements, eliminating the need for custom backend code. This solution accelerated development, allowing Adobe to meet a critical customer's seven-week deadline by accommodating a new device requirement in just two days. The platform also provided enhanced security and a real-time data feed, which was crucial for supporting massive live events like the Sochi Olympics and March Madness, which delivered tens of millions of streams without significant disruption.
