A Apica Case Study
TransGaming, maker of the GameTreeTV on-demand gaming service for connected TVs, needed to prove its cloud-based platform could withstand instantaneous TV-style spike traffic for a major European MSO. With infrastructure managed via RightScale on AWS and multiple teams across geographies, the challenge was to generate massive, real-time load, expose concurrency and failover issues, and define optimal machine sizing and elasticity rules before launch.
TransGaming used Apica LoadTest to simulate real set-top box behavior from European and global agents, providing aggressive spike loads, real-time analysis, and hands-on engineering support to triage and retest fixes. The testing uncovered concurrency bugs, guided server-size and cost optimizations, validated failover, and informed auto-scaling schedule rules—delivering a 400% improvement in performance and concurrency over a three-week test-and-fix cycle.
