Big Fish Games faced a challenge due to a lack of a standardized ETL workflow orchestration tool. Their in-house PowerShell and Python frameworks were difficult to maintain, lacked a monitoring user interface, and were not suited for complex data workflows or handling late data arrivals and job failures.

The vendor, Apache Airflow, solved this by providing a platform to programmatically author, schedule, and monitor workflows via Python. The solution offered a web UI for monitoring, built-in and custom connectors, and crucial features for handling failures and backfilling data. Apache Airflow enabled the customer to focus on analytics instead of framework maintenance and facilitated a seamless migration to the Google Cloud Platform.
