Case Study: Marie Selby Botanical Gardens achieves secure cloud document management and seamless Office–Google Drive collaboration with AODocs

A AODocs Case Study

Preview of the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens Case Study

With a goal to move as many of their IT systems to the cloud as possible, Marie Selby Botanical Gardens wanted to change the way that staff worked together on files

Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, led by IT Manager Doug Perry, needed to move decades of file-based documentation to the cloud while keeping department-level organization, strict folder permissions, and support for staff who still use Microsoft Office. Already using G Suite, Selby sought a solution that would replace Windows file servers, secure their folder structures, and let field researchers access documents from anywhere without disrupting Office workflows — so they turned to AODocs.

AODocs implemented its content services platform integrated with Google Drive (including the Smartbar and Universal File Opener) to present a single, managed view of multiple folders, enforce departmental permissions, and enable Office file editing in the browser. As a result, Marie Selby moved document management to the cloud, maintained control over file and folder security, enabled cross-suite Office/G Suite workflows, and gave staff reliable mobile access — preserving 40 years of data and allowing large documents to be shared with hundreds of users.
