Perkins School for the Blind - Customer Case Study

Perkins School for the Blind, founded in 1829, needed to replace paper-based shift logs used in its on-campus “cottages” and to protect sensitive student information while staying compliant with HIPAA and Massachusetts privacy laws. Staff were already adopting Google Drive informally, creating concerns about oversharing and lack of IT control. Perkins evaluated options and selected AODocs, a modern intelligent content services platform, to lock down cloud storage and gain ownership and control over Google Drive accounts.

AODocs moved Word/Excel logs from a Windows file server into G Suite, enabled mobile entry via Google Forms, and created per-cottage libraries (one for each of the five cottages) with role-based access, custom folder structures, and advanced search (Smartbar). With AODocs, Drive adoption grew from just a few users to 50 staff and faculty within six months, document visibility and self-service access improved, and Perkins achieved the security and compliance controls required for student records.
