UK supply chain modernization to improve logistics efficiency

Decision Lab faced an inefficient FMCG supply chain driven by reactive demand planning and a lack of digital tools. To address this, they adopted anyLogistix, a supply chain simulation and optimization tool, to build a modern, testable modelling environment that could bring visibility and strategic decision support to production, warehousing and logistics operations.

Using anyLogistix (extended with AnyLogic-based custom blocks), Decision Lab implemented bespoke features — resource utilization and bakery production logic, product sourcing paths, cross-docking, and direct JDBC SQL outputs — and integrated model outputs with the client’s SQL database and Power BI dashboards. anyLogistix-enabled automation and enhanced data granularity produced KPI dashboards, revealed bottlenecks and inefficiencies, and supported data-driven decisions; the project is ongoing but has already delivered improved visibility and identified concrete opportunities for efficiency gains.
