A AnyLogic Case Study
Dwh Simulation Services, working with Vienna University of Technology and the Austrian Association of Social Insurances (AASI), needed a way to analyze large volumes of routine healthcare reimbursement data to support future decisions. Using AnyLogic Simulation and Modeling software, they tackled questions around reimbursement systems, group practices, and abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) screening that were too complex for standard statistics alone.
AnyLogic enabled Dwh Simulation Services to build agent-based, system dynamics, and microsimulation models that tested multiple policy scenarios and patient pathways. The simulations showed that organized AAA screening for about 40% of people over 65 could reduce death rates by roughly one third, and the models also helped AASI evaluate reimbursement changes and group practice effects with scenario-based outputs such as fees, cases, consultations, and services.
