A AnyLogic Case Study
Pitney Bowes needed a practical way to evaluate and improve its rapidly growing parcel logistics network, since expert judgment alone could no longer keep pace with the scale and complexity of operations. To support decision making, the company used AnyLogic simulation software to build a parcel network analysis tool for testing site consolidation, new client impacts, routing changes, and other network scenarios.
Using AnyLogic, Pitney Bowes created a simulation-based model with real historical data and realistic assumptions, giving analysts a repeatable way to assess and fine-tune network designs. The solution reduced average parcel cycle time by about 10%, cut carryover by roughly 70%, lowered truck counts by around 8%, and showed that only 70% of planned capacity was needed for a new supercenter.
