Cold Store Warehouse Operations Optimization

Phoenix Analytics, a Turkish consulting company and simulation solutions provider, worked with a major ice-cream and frozen desserts manufacturer to optimize cold store warehouse operations. The challenge was to build a simulation model that could help decision-makers improve resource usage while meeting strict storage and handling constraints such as FIFO rules, temperature-sensitive storage, and pallet limits. AnyLogic was used as the warehouse simulation software.

Using AnyLogic, Phoenix Analytics created a flexible cold store model that tested different scenarios across seasons, rack loads, and staff shifts, and analyzed inbound/outbound resource priorities. The solution helped identify the shortest travel distances, optimal pallet storage locations, and resource utilization patterns. As a result, the client selected the configuration that used the fewest resources while still meeting desired performance levels and KPIs, improving warehouse optimization decisions with measurable simulation-driven insights.
