Archer Aviation is developing an urban air taxi service using eVTOL aircraft, but needed a way to plan vertiport design and operations with very limited real-world data. Using AnyLogic simulation software, the company set out to evaluate how different vertiport layouts, charging setups, and flight schedules would affect turnaround time, charging efficiency, and overall capacity.

With AnyLogic, Archer Aviation built a simulation model that compared vertiport configurations and charger types to identify the most effective operating plans. The results showed which layouts worked best under different taxi times and site constraints, that 8-module chargers improved turnaround and charging speed, and how many aircraft each design could support, helping reduce launch uncertainty and create a data-driven foundation for its urban air mobility network.
