A AnyLogic Case Study
Lean Business Services, a Saudi government-owned healthcare innovation company, faced the challenge of modernizing capacity planning as Saudi Arabia shifted from a centralized health system to regional clusters. The outdated planning approach risked overcrowding some primary healthcare centers while leaving others underused, creating inefficiencies and a poorer patient experience. To address this, Lean Business Services used AnyLogic simulation software to model healthcare demand and resource allocation at national scale.
Using AnyLogic, Lean Business Services built an agent-based simulation model for capacity management that assigned beneficiaries to the right primary healthcare centers and tested different demand scenarios. The model covered 33 million people and 2,700 centers across 21 clusters, enabling more accurate planning, reduced resource waste, improved service levels, and better patient experience. It also provided a safe, data-driven framework that could be updated with ministry data to support scalable, future-ready healthcare planning.
