Simulation Model of a Coal Bulk Terminal

Dilibrium worked with AnyLogic to help Daltransugol coal terminal, also known as the Vanino Bulk Terminal, address the challenge of raising annual transshipment capacity from 23 million tons to 40 million tons. The terminal’s complex rail, conveyor, and vessel operations needed to be analyzed in detail, so Dilibrium built a simulation model to study the current process and future expansion options.

Using AnyLogic, Dilibrium developed an “AS IS” model to validate operations against historical data and then tested multiple “TO BE” scenarios for modernization. The simulation covered railway logistics, conveyor routing, and ship loading, and produced detailed operational statistics that identified bottlenecks and measured equipment performance, helping determine maximum productivity and compare alternative terminal configurations.
