A AnyLogic Case Study
Migros Online, a leading Swiss online supermarket in the Migros Group, needed to improve warehouse picking optimization and overall fulfillment efficiency. To support better decisions on layout, routing, box packing, trolley organization, and workforce assignment, Migros Online worked with Decision Lab and used AnyLogic simulation software to build a simulation-based digital twin of its warehouse operations.
AnyLogic enabled Decision Lab to combine agent-based modeling, discrete event simulation, and Java integration to create a realistic, data-driven model using real warehouse layouts and CAD files. With this model, Migros Online could test changes before implementing them, make business cases more convincingly, and ultimately reduce shipping costs by about 5%, while also laying the groundwork for future automation and broader operational improvements.
