A AnyLogic Case Study
Infineon, a large semiconductor manufacturer, wanted to understand the bullwhip effect in its supply chain to cut costs and improve market forecasting. The Supply Chain Innovations team used AnyLogic software to model the flow from raw materials to the market and study how demand fluctuations were amplified across the chain.
Using AnyLogic, Infineon built a hybrid agent-based and discrete event simulation with simplified supply chain actors and an internal model of Infineon’s planning and execution functions. The model reproduced typical bullwhip behaviors, helped analyze market scenarios and demand amplification, and was later used for internal training and planned customer collaboration to reduce the effect.
