Evaluating Introduction of Warehouse Automation Systems

Symbotic, a warehouse automation solutions provider, needed a way to help customers evaluate the impact of warehouse reorganization and compare automation investments with expected operational savings before implementation. To do this, Symbotic used AnyLogic simulation software to build flexible, customer-specific models of warehouse operations and automation systems.

Using AnyLogic, Symbotic created detailed 3D simulations of dock-door scheduling, product flows, labor and equipment operations, and human-automation interactions, then tested them against six months of historic order data. The models helped clients assess throughput, labor and resource needs, and outbound fulfillment times, supporting investment decisions and sales presentations; AnyLogic also enabled easy model reconfiguration across projects and provided strong measurable visibility into warehouse performance.
