Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant Uses a Simulation Model of Electric-Furnace Melting Shop

The Electric-Furnace Melting Shop at Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant faced the challenge of planning a shop-floor renovation and modernizing production processes without reliable upfront answers on capacity, equipment configurations, and operating conditions. AnyLogic, through its simulation software and modeling expertise, was used to create a model of the redesigned production environment and processes.

AnyLogic implemented a Java-based simulation model of the electric-furnace melting shop, allowing the plant to test scenarios from 12 hours to 12 months and review results in Excel reports. This reduced modernization costs, clarified equipment performance under different conditions, and helped increase output of high-quality rolled products and rails.
