A AnyLogic Case Study

Preview of the Astellas Pharma Case Study

Simulation of Behavioral Economics Theory as Applied to Organizations

Astellas Pharma used AnyLogic simulation software to explore how behavioral economics and system science could explain the impact of employee decision-making on organizational performance. The challenge was understanding how trust, psychological safety, team size, and task type influence productivity across teams and departments.

AnyLogic helped Astellas Pharma build an agent-based model with system dynamics to simulate employee behavior and organizational interactions. The results showed that smaller teams tended to have higher trust and productivity, while larger teams and more collaborative tasks reduced trust and performance; the model also highlighted how changing interaction penalties affected productivity and could support future nudges to improve organizational outcomes.
