Optimizing Trading Business Process with AnyLogic Strategic Planning Software

Fannie Mae, a major U.S. mortgage market enterprise, needed to optimize its trade confirmation and trade assignment operations while preparing for sudden spikes in trade volume. To better understand bottlenecks and plan analyst capacity, the company worked with AnyLogic strategic planning software to model a mix of manual and automated processing paths.

AnyLogic built an agent-based simulation that represented both trades and analysts, enabling what-if analysis for exception delays and staffing levels. The proof of concept was delivered in 90 days, identified process bottlenecks and capacity limits, recommended the needed analyst headcount and skill mix for different volumes, and tested resilience under peak-volume scenarios.
