A AnyLogic Case Study
Lockheed Martin needed a better way to improve aircraft sortie generation by reducing complex aircraft turnaround time, a process with many interacting human and machine workflows across multiple workstations and bases. To understand the main drivers of delay and test alternatives, Lockheed Martin used AnyLogic for modeling and simulation alongside custom data collection tools.
AnyLogic helped Lockheed Martin build a stochastic, agent-based simulation of the turnaround process, with tablet-based and paper backup data collection, Gantt analysis, and Monte Carlo experimentation. The result was a validated baseline model that identified true critical-path drivers, revealed hidden task interdependencies, and supported “what-if” analysis across two bases using about 35 tasks observed over roughly 50 flights.
