Transportation Company Integrates Intermodal Railway Simulation and Management System

Large Transportation Company, a railway operator building a strategic network of terminals and ports, needed a way to evaluate and improve the design and operations of its new Bely Rast transport and logistics terminal. Because the facility was complex and there were no universal railway yard models for this type of planning, the company turned to AnyLogic and SPC Infotrans to simulate internal logistics, terminal layout, and cargo-flow efficiency.

AnyLogic’s discrete-event railway simulation model helped the company test schedules, capacities, and operational scenarios across terminals, warehouses, and road links. The solution improved planning and dispatching, defined technical requirements for the system, and identified bottlenecks such as checkpoint capacity limits and cross flows that could cause queues and overloads, enabling them to correct these issues and create a tool for choosing optimal operating solutions.
