Modeling Intelligent Control Systems Based on a Digital Platform

RTSoft’s INTELAB energy lab needed a digital platform to develop intelligent control systems for distributed energy resources, but existing solutions were too expensive and difficult to configure. To demonstrate platform performance and assess technical and economic effects, RTSoft turned to AnyLogic simulation software.

AnyLogic provided agent-based simulation, visualizations for nontechnical stakeholders, and fast prototype development connected to the digital platform. The model was used to test a short-term optimization module for microgrids, and the results showed a 41% reduction in diesel generator operating hours and up to a 20% lower diesel generation cost.
