How Symvaro Improves Utility Efficiency with Mobile Meter Reading

Symvaro, a developer of mobile solutions for water utilities and municipalities, needed a way to improve meter reading accuracy and simplify the collection process so customers could self-report readings—especially when COVID-19 travel restrictions made technician visits impractical. To meet this challenge they used the WATERLOO 365 app and partnered with Anyline to integrate mobile OCR capabilities.

Anyline provided its SDK for automatic meter-value recognition within WATERLOO 365, enabling readings to be captured, transmitted to utilities, and saved with a photo confirmation emailed to the customer. Since launching in 2017, Symvaro reports increased demand, elimination of downstream work before billing creation, better traceability and fewer disputes, and time and resource savings for both utilities and end customers thanks to the Anyline-enabled workflow.
