A AnvilEight Case Study
The University of Michigan School of Information faced a challenge in studying social media behavior from a person-centric view across multiple platforms, as existing tools were limited to single-site data. They partnered with vendor AnvilEight to build a custom research platform with browser extensions and mobile apps to collect this sensitive data while ensuring strict IRB compliance and privacy protections.
AnvilEight implemented the MTogether platform, a cross-extension monitoring solution that included browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox, and Safari, plus iOS and Android apps. This solution enabled a 10+ year partnership, securing over $500k in funding from Google Research and facilitating groundbreaking studies, including an NIH-funded project linking adolescent social media use to health outcomes and tracking 400 participants over one year.
