Washington State Employment Security Department improves seasonal farmworker hiring in 8 months with Anthro-Tech

The Washington State Employment Security Department faced a challenge with its slow and complicated hiring processes, which made it difficult for seasonal fruit farms to find adequate workers through the H-2A Visa Program. To address this, the department partnered with vendor Anthro-Tech to conduct a customer experience study aimed at improving recruitment for farmworkers, growers, and employers.

Anthro-Tech implemented an eight-month UX research project that included in-person interviews and focus groups. This solution led to the creation of detailed journey maps and evidence-based recommendations for clearer roles, better resources, and improved communication. As a result, Anthro-Tech's work helped streamline agricultural recruitment in Washington, fostering stronger connections between the department, farmworkers, and employers to make the process more efficient for everyone involved.
