The Washington State Department of Enterprise Services (DES) faced a challenge after merging with five other agencies, as its website failed to effectively communicate its expanded services, causing customer frustration. To improve usability and modernize the site, DES partnered with vendor Anthro-Tech for a comprehensive website redesign.

Anthro-Tech implemented a mobile-friendly, accessible website with restructured content based on user research, alongside new branding and a voice and tone guide. The solution significantly improved the customer experience, evidenced by a system usability score of 84/100 and an average ease-of-use rating of 4.0/5.0 post-launch. The new site also earned Anthro-Tech and DES multiple awards for best government website and user experience.
