Western Kentucky University faced a sudden pivot when COVID-19 disrupted plans for its first Day of Giving, so the Division of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement refocused the effort as a Day of Caring to foster community connection and soft solicitations. WKU used Anthology’s Lightning Giving Form and Encompass to simplify giving and coordinate communications during the shift.

Anthology’s tools enabled a streamlined online giving experience, a dedicated Day of Caring landing page, and targeted Encompass email campaigns while intentionally forgoing leaderboards to keep the focus on community. The results were significant: 4.7+ million Twitter impressions and 7,000 followers reached on the day, Facebook impressions up 173% and Instagram up 334% for the month, and 332 donors making 258 gifts totaling nearly $50,000 (including 21 first-time donors), with broad campus participation and strengthened internal partnerships.
