Multi-Campus Solution Increases Engagement for UTAA

The University of Tennessee Alumni Association (UTAA), which serves more than 345,000 alumni across four campuses and three institutes, faced declining engagement because alumni identified more with their individual campuses than with the system-level UTAA website. To address low profile updates and weak campus affinity, the association turned to Anthology and its Encompass Enterprise (iModules) platform to find a more segmented, campus-branded approach.

Anthology implemented sealed sub-communities and campus-branded sites with integrated tools (website, CMS, email marketing, and online giving) so each campus could communicate and collect data while sharing a single database. The results were substantial: VolsConnect (UT Knoxville) traffic rose 248%, the system site saw only a 9% drop, nearly 13,000 alumni submitted updated records in 18 months, and online giving increased 50% in 2013 (with similar pace in 2014). Anthology’s solution also improved data access and segmentation, making the platform mission-critical for UTAA.
