Improving the User Enrollment Process with Blackboard® Learn Extensions

Trevecca Nazarene University, a private Christian university in Nashville serving about 3,000 students, faced an inefficient process for enrolling external learners and users without university email addresses into Blackboard Learn during the pandemic. Manual enrollments and credit authentication created a heavy administrative burden as demand for skills-based and professional development grew. Trevecca sought an affordable, easy-to-use, sustainable self-registration solution and chose Anthology’s Training and Development Manager (TDM), a Blackboard Learn extension.

Anthology implemented TDM to provide a self-service learner journey from course choice to payment and certification without extra infrastructure, streamlining enrollment and reducing admin work. Using TDM, Trevecca ran 30 sections of 40 participants, enrolled more than 1,200 educators in SPED and ESL endorsement programs (with grant-funded capacity up to 2,400), achieved over 94% satisfaction with registration, and recorded 925 completions—expanding skills-based offerings, enabling faster implementation, and improving the overall user experience.
