El Paso Community College (EPCC) faced the challenge of keeping a diverse student body engaged and retained when classes shifted online during the pandemic. To centralize support and make campus and remote resources easier to find, EPCC adopted Blackboard Assist (via vendor Anthology) to surface critical services—like virtual class access, registration, and an online learning handbook—directly inside their Blackboard hub.
Anthology worked with EPCC’s Distance Learning Support Services to roll out Blackboard Assist in time for the 2021 spring semester, populating department content and prioritizing top resources. The implementation streamlined student access to registration, bookstore and counseling links, drew positive faculty feedback for putting resources “at students’ fingertips,” and reduced internal troubleshooting and workload while enabling quick, ongoing updates to support retention and engagement.
