Enhancing the Learning Experience at Not Just One but Five Institutions

Sam Houston State University, a longtime Blackboard customer, set out to upgrade to Anthology’s Blackboard Learn Ultra while also supporting four partner institutions in the Texas State University System. The challenge was scaling a single, coordinated transition across five institutions and more than 36,000 learners without disrupting instruction, requiring a consistent training and onboarding approach.

Anthology supplied Blackboard Learn Ultra and adoption resources (including the Anthology Adoption Toolkit and community channels) while SHSU led a phased rollout with a four-part faculty training program, webinars (389 enrollments by July 2023), certification, and a migration partnership with K16. The effort will migrate nearly 15,000 courses and serve over 36,000 learners; early outcomes include intuitive student dashboards, built-in accessibility, positive faculty feedback on new features, and accelerated adoption enabled by Anthology’s tools and community.
