Eastern Kentucky University wanted to increase giving participation across the entire EKU community by running a 24‑hour online challenge — their first-ever Giving Day on April 24, 2019 — using scoreboards and milestones to build excitement. They partnered with Anthology and used Anthology’s online giving/giving-day platform to power real-time leaderboards, engagement tools, and challenge tracking.
Anthology’s solution counted donations (not dollars) and supported state-by-state and sub-challenge mechanics like the “Make the Map Maroon” goal and automatically updating leaderboards. EKU quickly met its initial goal of 424 donations, surpassed a 521 stretch goal, exceeded a 730 super-stretch, and finished with nearly 750 donations totaling more than $125,000 — the most gifts EKU has ever received in a single day.
