Accessible Content Is Better Content The University of Glasgow’s Journey Towards Inclusivity

The University of Glasgow, a large, historic public university with over 26,000 students and a strong commitment to equality and diversity, needed to meet Digital Accessibility Regulations and make course content more inclusive and usable for its diverse student body. To address this, the University selected Anthology and its Anthology Ally product to support staff in creating accessible digital learning materials.

Anthology Ally was deployed as a plug‑and‑play solution to scan and score course content, provide step‑by‑step guidance to instructors, and generate alternate formats for students. The tool quickly gained adoption: nearly 50% of students used alternate formats, there were about 131,000 alternate format downloads last academic year, 7,400 courses are being scanned now (over 21,000 scanned last year), the overall accessibility score reached 85%, and the student experience in content accessibility improved by 17% over 2020–21.
