An international pharmaceutical company sought to embed sustainability principles across its packaging lifecycle, from design through production. The company needed to improve its data quality and identify key areas for impact to monitor progress against its targets. They engaged the vendor, Anthesis, for its expertise in packaging strategy development and implementation.

Anthesis developed and implemented a comprehensive sustainable packaging program. Key initiatives included running stakeholder workshops to set goals, establishing sustainability advisory boards, creating an innovation playbook, and launching a supplier engagement program. As a result, Anthesis engaged 150 suppliers and gathered data on 1,500 packaging components. They also conducted life cycle assessments on critical items to evidence sustainability claims and created new processes for identifying upcoming requirements.
