Case Study: Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks achieves first UK DNO 1.5°C-aligned science-based targets with Anthesis

A Anthesis Case Study

SSEN cuts Scope 1 and 2 emissions 55% by 2033 with Anthesis

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), a UK power distributor, commissioned Anthesis to review its carbon emissions portfolio and develop a validated science-based target (SBT) for submission to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

Anthesis calculated SSEN's emissions footprint, modelled its carbon reduction pathway, and used scenario analysis to identify reduction measures. Following validation, Anthesis helped embed the targets into SSEN's regulated business plan. As a result, SSEN became the first UK electricity distributor with accredited SBTs, including a commitment to reduce its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 55% by 2033.
