A Anthesis Case Study

Preview of the PLUS Supermarkets Case Study

How Anthesis, through Climate Neutral Group, have supported PLUS with its climate neutral strategy

PLUS Supermarkets, a Dutch grocery chain with over 550 locations, sought to advance its sustainability leadership and achieve its ambitious goal of reducing the carbon footprint of its private label products by 25% by 2030. To validate its efforts and gain credible certification, the company partnered with Anthesis for its Climate Activator Certification and Net Zero & Decarbonisation Services.

Anthesis supported PLUS by identifying key areas for climate gains, prioritizing sectors like fruit and dairy, and engaging suppliers to measure and reduce their footprints. They also helped formulate a strategy to address the company's direct emissions, leading to initiatives like electric lorries and energy-neutral distribution centers. The solution included offsetting residual emissions through certified projects. As a result, PLUS now offers the largest range of Climate Activator Certified products in the Netherlands and has achieved full supply chain transparency for items like its bananas, allowing consumers to trace the product's emissions and journey via QR code.
