Evidencing Waste Prevention and Recycling Targets for Natural Resources Wales

Natural Resources Wales, a Welsh Government Sponsored Body, needed data to monitor progress towards national waste prevention and recycling targets, inform planning, and complete a mandated EU strategy report. To meet this challenge, they enlisted the services of Anthesis for a comprehensive data collection and analysis project.

Anthesis collaborated with partners to design and deliver a statistically valid survey, engaging 1,755 businesses across Wales. The resulting data analysis revealed a 22% reduction in waste generation and showed that the 2025 recycling target had already been met, providing the evidence needed to demonstrate progress to the Welsh Government and the EU.
