A Anthesis Case Study
The City of Stockholm sought to evaluate the socio-economic impacts of different water and wastewater systems for the Norra Djurgårdsstaden area to enhance its energy and resource efficiency. To address this challenge, the city engaged Anthesis to conduct a cost benefit analysis and provide policy support for the project.
Anthesis analyzed two alternative systems and determined that the most ambitious option, which involved diverting greywater for heat recovery and food waste to a biogas facility, was the most profitable. The recommended solution implemented by Anthesis is expected to significantly increase wastewater heat recovery from 34% to 80%, save 577 kWh per person annually, reduce daily water use by 14 litres per person, and cut pollution from nitrogen and phosphorus.
