Case Study: Swedish Government Agency achieves a valuation of Sweden’s marine environmental benefits with Anthesis

A Anthesis Case Study

Preview of the Swedish Government Agency Case Study

Anthesis developed a comprehensive study with a Swedish Government Agency to measure public willingness to pay to achieve “good environmental status” in marine waters

A Swedish government agency sought to quantify the public's value of achieving "good environmental status" in the country's marine waters as mandated by the EU. To understand this, they needed to measure the population's willingness to pay for improved water quality and enlisted Anthesis to conduct a comprehensive valuation study.

Anthesis designed and executed a nationally representative survey to capture public willingness to pay, using statistical analysis to identify key influencing factors. The study revealed an aggregate public willingness to pay of SEK 8.2 billion per year. These results from Anthesis are being used to inform vital EU socio-economic analyses and to update international marine action plans.
